Superiority

Tartaric acid is a white, crystalline organic acid found naturally in many fruits, most notably in tamarinds and grapes, but also in bananas, and citrus. Its salt, potassium bitartrate, commonly known as cream of tartar, develops naturally in the process of winemaking. When used as chemical food additives, tartaric acid can generate carbon dioxide through interaction with sodium bicarbonate following oral administration.  Carbon dioxide extends the stomach and provides a negative contrast medium during double contrast radiography. As an added antioxidant in food, it can give the food a sour taste. The biggest use of tartaric acid is as a beverage additive, it is also raw material for the pharmaceutical industry and is an important additive and reductant in mirror making industry. Its solubility in water at low temperatures is low, and an insoluble calcium salt is easily formed.

There are three kinds of Tartaric acid such as L(+)D(-), DL Tartaric acid. L(+) -tartaric acid is a natural configuration, also known as d-tartaric acid, found in a wide variety of plants, such as grapes and tamarind fruits. D(-) -tartaric acid, also known as l-tartaric acid, is found in the fruits and leaves of the sheep’s hooves. The usual chemical synthesis type is DL-tartaric acid.

Tartaric acid can be used as an antioxidant synergist, retarder, bismuth preparation, chelating agent, and pharmaceutical agent for medicine, food, leather, textile and other industries.
